Our society has a fall annual meeting. It is held in different communities according to a vote at the annual meeting the year before. All members are volunteers and we continue to search for funding for further expansion and maintenance of our current nestboxes. Membership fees are $10.00 per person or household. We are affiliated with the North American Bluebird Trail Society (NABS). Each year NABS has their own convention somewhere in Canada or USA. In June 2002, our society, The Southern Interior Bluebird Trail Society (SIBTS) hosted the NABS Convention in Penticton, B.C. Over 300 participants from all over North America attended the conference and enjoyed beautiful British Columbia and the attractions it has to offer. To find out more about NABS go to www.nabluebirdsociety.org
The Annual General Meeting of Southern Interior Bluebird trail Society this year 2007 is Saturday October 13th in Logan Lake, BC. 11 am to approx 2:30 pm.
Location is The Copper Valley Inn near the west entrance to town. Lunch will be served at noon, for a cost to members of $12.50 each (to be paid at the meeting).
I strongly urge members to attend. Usually our AGM is attended by only one fifth of the membership, and therefore that small number decide the Board of Directors, policy, activities, and expenditures for all of the society. Logan Lake has a vibrant and involved group of members who will attend in force as usual. If the other members fail to attend, you will be giving the one group authority to decide all matters for you. Come out and use your vote!!
"Several longtime members and monitors have given up their bluebird monitoring for various reasons during 2005 and 2006. Some find that despite their love of the bluebirds they can no longer spend the time necessary to properly monitor their nestbox trails. They have arranged for new monitors to take over, or have asked SIBTS to assign the trails to other people. We appreciate their past work, and especially appreciate their concern about having the monitoring continue.
We are always looking for volunteers to construct nestboxes, monitor or set up bluebird trails, provide habitat to place boxes in, educate others about bluebirds or many other worthwhile duties.
